I put the filter in thinking good things were going to happen with my acceleration, mileage and overall performance of my Aveo. Well, just after I put it, city driving was fine. I took a little trip of about 160Kms and used 1/2 a tank to get there. The performance on the open hwy. was poor, I had to put my pedal to the floor to get ANY acceleration. I was totally disappointed . So disappointed I went and bought and installed the stock paper filter. With the stock paper filter I made it almost all the way the way home on 1/4 of a tank. I don't know what happened. Could anybody explain to me what might have happened?

perhaps you used more gas trying to "test" the filter by stomping the gas a lot?

Maybe, but I only went 100 miles and I don't think that I should have used 1/2 tank of gas.

No you dont. They are pre-oiled. Thats why its pink. The filter is actually white when you remove the oil.

If the filter is white with out the oil on it and it does come pre-oiled. That might have been the problem Norm, if you oiled it, it might be that the filter is clogged and that is why it was not giving poor results.
I really would like to know if that is the problem or not, I have been looking at getting one of these. costs about the same as buying three of the paper filters here.

You won't notice any difference unless you have modified the stock air box. Lose the corragated tube and run the inlet to the bumber to force air in.

It was pre-oiled. Pop it in and go. You won't notice any difference unless you have modified the stock air box. Lose the corragated tube and run the inlet to the bumber to force air in. Are you talking about removing the resonator?

It means that they drilled a series of holes into, from what I gathered, the plastic where the fog light would be. When completed, would look like a honeycomb. Ryan P.S. Please correct me if I am mistaken

Hilarious dude!!!!
I went and checked my work friends car and lo and behold I saw the honeycomb. I guess if I want more air flow I got to remove my fog lights.
I haven't done a search yet, but I remember reading somewhere that if you have increased airflow that you also have to increase your exhaust(or airflow exit). Is that right? Cuz I burned alot of gas in a very short distance, 1/2 tank in 100miles(160km)
