Hey guys. I'm trying to figure out what headunit would work with our cars. I went onto best buys website and entered in the car info but it didn't list any headunits that would fit in our car. I have a stock am/fm radio right now but would like to change it out/upgrade. What have you guys done? It's a 1 din setup correct?

1 din will fit with the mounting kit but its a double din without. just about any head unit will work. You can get the mounting kit and wiring harness from crutchfield and probally the best deal on the deck too. I have a Clarion.

you have the AM/FM radio only? or with CD player? if only the radio, like I had, that means you have a compartment under the radio right? If so, you have everthing you need except for the wiring harness to put in a 1 DIN head unit. The compartment is attached to the radio, and taht infact is a mounting adapter from 2DIN to 1 DIN... The only thing is that you have to do some creative drilling to make new mounting holes in the bracket, as they didn't seem to be a standard fit. Or do what I did, and carefully drill into the side of the headunit, and mount with those holes.. I put in a JVC head unit.. middle of the line, but any will work.. With the wiring harness, a few soldering connections, and it's an easy switch. Maybe take 15 minutes max, plus what soldering time you need, if this is your first time doing it. After doing it I'm confident I could trade out a radio in an aveo-like car in about 3-4 minutes max. lol..

crutchfield.com
tons of equipment, great prices, free shipping, great customer suppport. i sound like a commercial huh? but seriously, i just bought all my stereo stuff from them, came very quick, everything works great and it cost me a quarter of what it would have cost at a shop like cartoys.

But can you beat eBay prices? And while we are on the topic, what brands do you plan to carry?

Hey..please don't be so harsh on aveosummit...he bring his advice regarding auto electronics many times here without any kind of interest and is a regular forum member like many of us.
And if I had the opportunity (too bad I live in Puerto Rico) I would have prefer to support him than any big chain like Walmart, Best Buy or Crutchfield. And he can really help us more than others since he knows our car's acoustics!

But can you beat eBay prices? And while we are on the topic, what brands do you plan to carry? I beat ebays prices on most items, a few of the higher end ones are harder to beat due to strict pricing from the manufacturers. I currently carry, pioneer, soundstorm, spl, American pro, kole audio, us amps, boss, volfenhag, visonik, audiopipe, lanzar, tsunami, legacy, AL audio, logic soundlab, ma logic, pyle, blaupunkt, xxx audio, re competition, pyramid, omega....mtx, earthquake, beyma and about 70 more brands coming this spring.... You give me any desired result and I promise I can beat most pricing, if not I can point you to the best price. *THE WEBSITE WILL BE BACK UP AND RUNNING ON FRIDAY 11/03/06, ENJOY THE NEW LOOK AND PRODUCTS ALSO IF YOU SEE ANYTHING ON SPORT COMPACT ONLY THAT YOU LIKE/WANT DROP ME A LINE, I CAN GET YOU A GOOD PRICE.

Hey, the Pyle 1/2 din slide out DVD screen is going on Ebay for about $250, can you match or beat it? If so, I'm looking to get a screen in my Aveo by next month. It needs to be that screen though so I can transfer it to my next car. I will also be looking for a multimedia player under $100 which can play DivX and mounted vertically. I won't need that though until Dec probably.

cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1-2-HALF-DIN-IN-DASH-MOTORIZED-LCD-TFT-7-TV-MONITOR_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ38650QQihZ005QQitemZ150049802716QQtcZphotoPyle PLTVD7.5N Sorry, I should have included a link and part number. Basically, my plan is to put this in the Aveo so we can hook a portable dvd player to it for some upcoming road trips. When funds are replenished in Dec or Jan, I'd like to complete the package with a dvd player which is capable of a vertical mount so I can install it easy in the Aveo and it also would need front RCA inputs and a front headphone jack. This would allow us to burn TV shows to disk for trips and if it's a wife only show, she could listen to the headphones and watch tv while I listen to some good trance mixes on the stereo. If it's a show we both like, I could use the integrated FM output on the screen to allow the sound through the car stereo. This setup would also be great on track days since I spend the night in the car to cut down on costs.
