looks like certian death, more at www.jalopnik.com/cars/crash-test/"According to Europe's car-safety gurus, NCAP, the Chevrolet Aveo is a safe car, as long as you don't hit anything head-on. Then, it turns into the most economical enabler of catastrophic chest compression you can buy. Singled out as having an "unacceptably high risk of life-threatening injury to the driver s chest," the Aveo nonetheless scored a three-star rating from the agency." even more at www.euroncap.com/content/media/press_releases/phase_17b.html"The Chevrolet Aveo is a face lifted version of the Chevrolet/Daewoo Kalos. We were advised that the Kalos would be replaced by the Aveo, but now understand that the Kalos will continue to be available as a three/five door version until 2008. Until then we are informed that the Aveo will only be available as a saloon. " scary, is the hatchback like this?

Ok. i'm a bit concerned here. I have the 2006 Aveo5 and one of the reasons I was attracted to it was the 5-star frontal crash rating. See here: www.safercar.gov/NCAP/Cars/3444.htmlIs the 2007 that different aside from cosmetic differences? Does this apply to the 2006 and lower models as well? Wikipedia article refers to the 2nd Gen as T250 plaform (vs the T200 pre-07 models) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_AveoMarc

im prity shure that 1st gen is diffrent from the 2ed gen in more ways then casmatic. oh, and i checked www.safercar.gov/NCAP site, and the wierd thing is that some cars look "less" wrecked after head-on, but get lower rating, but the others that look realy mest up, and still get 5 star rating. for example 5 star driver, 5 star passanger and 4 star driver, and 3 star passanger

It appears to me that the 200x-2006 and lower models are better built? I mean.... 5-Star frontal crash rating! I know that I'll lose the battle to a Hummer and perhaps a Kia Sportage.... Is the T250 Platform is radically different than the T200? Denis: it looks like that bottom car www.safercar.gov/graphics/2004/04Aerio.jpg (Aerio?!) hasn't finished impacting -Marc

maybe on a complete head on crash the aveo gets 5 stars but when that is offset to just the driver's side like in the video the engine has to go somewhere, it would appear to be the driver's lap, same with the wheel,, and as for side impact, if I put enough pressure on my friend's aveos doors I can flex them,, Also the speed atwhich these are driven into the barriers comes into play.
For the price I would say it's a d*a*m*n good car. I would only buy one to put a roll cage in, lift, drop a v8 in, and mount some 35" mud tires,, but thats just me,,

5 door Aveo seems to be safer car then new sedan. Here you can find the crach test of daewoo kalos '03, done accordingly to Euro NCAP procedures in Australia. It scores 3 stars.

You are all paranoid! LOL.... Here's a great idea, drive sober, drive safe, and drive aware. Then you can bein a fricking Gremlin and still be safe!
Oh, and don't Drive head-on into oncoming traffic.
