if this kit is real, this is one of the biggest break thru's the aveo tuning community has had. i just sent an email to the company, and once they have it up and running and have pics i'm gonna try and buy one. this is something we have been wanting since the aveo came out, and if this is real i'm NOT gonna miss this chance to get A TURBO KIT FOR THE AVEO!!!!!! (jumps out of my chair and does a little dance) oh man this could be great!

Guys...This is the kit I told you I was trying to get made. I finally got an Aveo owner in Florida who wanted to be turbo'd and you all called him on BS. I think the reason that most people were in a hurry to raise the old BS flag is because we've seen so many people on this forum claim they have some great after market upgrade that 90% of the board would also give three fingers on their left hand to get, only to have it turn out to be another Aveo who called upgrade. I would love to see a turbo kit for these cars, that would indeed be the OJ. But as most of the rest have said, I will wait until I see something more than some parts on a blanket or resting on the the car somewhere. I'm not going to hold my breath, just in case I pass out and this is real, I wouldn't want to miss it. Ryan

Who cares about that small problem, at least a company finally made a turbo kit for the car, its a d@mn good start if you ask me.. 1 thing at a time! There have been turbo kit for that engine being sold all around the world several years before the Aveo came to market..... it's an Opel X16XE engine design ( actually manufactured in Korea.....unlike the 2.0L which still comes from Holden in Austrailia ) $2000 is a decent price... I would however be very curious about the manifold design. Is it carbon steel?? If so it will need lots of support to keep from sagging under the combination of heat and weight..... and when that starts to happen cracked welds are not far behind. If you ask me.... cast or stainless manifolds are the only way to go.

The manifold is cast and offers a two-year warranty against cracking and defects.
Thanks.

Good.... cast is the way to go... it was hard to tell from the picture.
Looks like a decent kit hopefully a few of you Aveo guys try it it out.... 170hp in an Aveo is more than enough for that car to feel incredibly fast.... you could use the stock clutch if your careful.... it's not until you get over the 200 lbft range that the stock clutch will start slipping.
There are a pile of clutch kits for the F16/D16 gear box as well as a quaife ATB differencial.

technically it will be another $1k because someone would be an idiot to put a turbo on a car without forged internals

technically it will be another $1k because someone would be an idiot to put a turbo on a car without forged internals eh you can always run low boost til you can get the forged internals

technically it will be another $1k because someone would be an idiot to put a turbo on a car without forged internals Honestly.... I don't see any reason why the stock components wouldn't handle the extra 70hp. I bought all RoRo's tires off him (drag slicks + autocross tires ) but we only talked about his Aveo problems over a couple of emails so I'm not entirely sure what happened in his case. There are a number of possibilities that could have killed that engine including wrong ignition timing, lean a/f ( I assume he was using a "wet" Nitrous kit ). I will post an article on the engine.... it ran 148bhp without any reliability problems on the testbench.... so really 170hp is not that much above that. The biggest thing people forget is the ignition timing on their turbo engines.... it's easy to fix with an engine that has a distributor.... you simply loosen it and rotate the distributor to retard the ignition.... but with a DIS system like the one on the Aveo the ignition maps come from the ECU so it's harder to change the timing. I would suggest that any turbo install is accompanied by an aftermarket ignition system.... otherwise you risk spark knock and detonation.

Perhaps the name of this thread should be changed to "maximumboost turbo kit for Aveo" and have it moved to sticky status like the others.
