I'm sure I saw this somewhere, but I can't bring up any results when I search.
What speaker sizes are in the 06's in the front doors, and rear deck.. I just have the crappy base stereo with no CD player even..
Thanks
J

Well i was in the same boat as you, my car came with just the plain radio, i couldnt stand it so i went over to future shop and picked up a radio and the install kit...
I talked to a stereo place in town and on there computers for the 06's they are listed as 4" front and 4" rear now I personally think they are bigger than that but i havent had the time to pull the door panels off to see...
I m not much help, just thought i would through something in for ya

EDIT: My Aveo is a 2004. They havent changed many of the dimensions, so it should work.
The original size for the speakers in the Aveo 4 Door sedan are as follows:
Front: 4'' speakers. Very small, only good for the High ranges Rears: 6'', 6 1/2'', 6 3/4'' These will give good sound.
I was able to fit the 6 3/4'' speakers in my Aveo that I salvaged from my long passed 95 Silverado. I bought the 4 inch Pioneers from Crutchfield and the speaker baffles for about 50 bucks.

Thanks.. but the rear ones in the hatchback are not round though..... 4x6, although the mount (screw holes) isn't standard 4x6. You'll probably have to drill new holes.

I have the '06 5 door, my stereo guy www.stopattheshop.com tells me that we can fit up to a 6.5" in the front door but the rears are 4x6. He advised not to even think about replacing them, it would be a waste of money.

For now I got a nice new head unit, and put in my sub from my last car.. With the HU set up right actually makes the speakers in the car sound not half bad.. Definately not the best obviously, but I'm happy with it for now at least.. see how long it takes for the stereo to blow the speakers.. I'm pretty sure they aren't rated for an aftermarket stereo.. Then I'll get new speakers

Ron-E-Babe, can you get 6.5 fronts without any spacer mods? Why would it be a waste of money, cos of the crap head unit?

I think you need a 1" spacer, there is plenty of room in the door.
4x6 speakers suck no matter who makes them, just a waste to replace them. they are back-fill anyway...our cars are so small a good set in the doors will sound good, unless of course you want the neighborhood to hear your music as well.
