Is it ok to drive this car for periods of time at 3000RPM to 3500RPM? I travel 600KM each weekend for the most part and I'm just wonderign if it's ok for te car? I have 96 000KM on it right now (2004 Aveo) Can I also switch to Castrol syntec or is that a bad idea???

Its never a bad idea to switch to synthetic, as long as its a true synthetic. I run 5w-30 AMSOil in both my Aveo and 06 HHR. As long as you don't switch back to regular. They say that's what hurts the engine. But back to the subject, you can go longer intervals before you have to change your oil and filter too. In fact, with amsoil, I can run it up to 15k miles (advertised up to 25 k miles, but I wouldn't go that far) as long as I change my filter every 5k miles. And another thing - don't do an engine flush. A few good mechanics told me that the best engine flush (if you really think you need to do one) is to buy cheap regular oil and run it for about 500 miles, then drain it, change the filter, and go full synthetic. And about your question about RPM, these cars are designed to be between 3000 and 3500 RPM at freeway speeds. Every time I drive it on the freeway (10 minutes or 3 hours) - it never goes below 3000 unless I'm in traffic. It does go higher if I'm downshifting though. Hope this helps.
