the best rims for our car would be superlight weight (5-6 lb) SSR rims from japan (14X7, and up to 14x8).

No offense to the guys wanting the same size or even a smaller size than stock....but whats the point of spending the money on wheels of the same size? IMO i think you should at least go 2" bigger than your stock rims not only for looks but also performance. I know smaller wheels are cheaper, but just save a bit longer and get bigger ones. Just my .02

IMO i think you should at least go 2" bigger than your stock rims not only for looks but also performance. I know smaller wheels are cheaper, but just save a bit longer and get bigger ones. Just my .02 It's all about application. A 14x6 wheel with a 185/60R14 tire will perform better in snow than a 16x7 wraped in a 205/40R16 tire. The 205 series will give better performance on a clean smooth road. Hit any sort of bump and you run the risk of damaging the wheel and throwing the car off balance. The 60 sidewall will absorb more of the bump and protect the wheel. The 185 will cut through standing water better than the 205. The 205 will, however, handle better on a wet road (no large puddles). In the end, though, the size of the wheel you run should be a result of your choice in tires. Choosing your wheel before you know what tires you're going to run, and why, is just foolish. Your tires are the only part of the car that touch the ground (HOPEFULLY!) and are the most important part of the car when it comes to acceleration, braking, handling, noise, and comfort. Remember, running a 185 tread width tire on a 7" wheel isn't a good idea either. Instead of the pothole catching the sidewall and damaging the tire, it can catch the lip of the rim and bend it pretty badly.

Well I dont plan on running my wheels year round nor do I plan on whizzing through puddles, so I think I made the best choice for me. But I see your point.
