I don't have an aveo myself but can answer your questions about premium and synthetic. Premium gas will offer you zero benefit unless your car is tuned for it. An aveo is not a performance car and does not demand much from its gas. Higher the octane gas you have the higher the RESISTANCE for it to PRE-IGNITE. Unless you are running 11:1 compression pistons, turbo or nitrous, it will not help you. If you got a full stand alone fuel management you could run more degrees of timing which would yield some benefit. So don't bother with it unless you have some of the above.
Synethic fluids last longer and offer higher amount of lubrication. Everytime I use mobile 1 full synethic My engine feels smoother, less vibration and you can go 5-7,000 miles on a single oil change before it starts to break down. while i think 7,000 miles is probably safe with full synethic i change mine at 4-5k. You can get 5 quarts of mobile one for about $23 at walmart.

I just purchased an 07 Aveo LS sedan for 10500 plus a ford sable that kept breaking down on me. I though I did a good job. It has the CD player with the mp3 hookup and AC but no cruise. So I have to say, I think you did a good job haggling with the dealer. Mine was a leftover trying to clear away to make way for 08. Also I live in massachusetts... so obviously region has a lot to do with sticker prices. I am not a believer in cruise control. I never use it... even when I drive my Urs4 (which has cruise) I find it degrading to the driver stature. No offense of course to cruisers who commute to work and such... and I guess having an automatic is more practical. But I NEEDED a stick, and didn't care much for cruise. My point... The dealer will say/do almost anything to get you in a vehicle. It's what they do. Nothing personal, but people are people. The guy who sold me mine knew substantially less about automobiles than I and I'm only an amateur enthusiast. They are SALESMAN not car guys. They don't go to race weekends.. they go to cookouts with their family. Anything that is said during a deal cannot be trusted. I'm sure you can get a cruise option on the LS "somewhere" in the country by maybe a dealer that is willing to do it. But chances are.. the guy who told you it is impossible was just trying to get you off the phone so he can go make another commission. Done rambling. This is my first post so I thought I would make a few points that I believe in. (thanks aveosam for showing me this forum) I read somewhere that someone wanted to swap out the 1.6 for a 2.0 suzuki engine that was almost a plug and play. But went the way of turbo to keep his warranty intact. Wouldn't a turbo upgrade which obviously would add stress to the engine void out a warranty just the same? thanks.
