I pulled the trigger on a silver 07' Sedan (auto) lastnight for $11,000. The way all of the salesman and I went back and forth I don't think they wanted to sell it that cheap but I told them I didn't want to spend more than $10,000.. was that simple, they finally got me to $11,000. They were asking the msrp of 13 plus a $4,000 markup which I literally laughed at when they pulled out that little 4 square piece of paper. They also ended up giving me $500 for a 92 Escort that I was about to take to the junkyard.. It ended up cracking the head between the #1 and #2 cylinder but it starts eventually if you're patient and as long as you keep the rpm's up it'll stay running. They didn't even start it when they said they'd give me $500, guess they assumed it ran either that or they didn't care cause they just wanted to sell me the Aveo. Did I pay an ok price?? $10,500 financed at 3.9 through GMAC and a broke down Escort? Should I have bargained more??
The main reason I am posting is because I know there is tips for all cars out there, when should I do my first oil change?? what oil should I use? intake help with mpg enough to make it worthwhile? Is there an exhaust out there that is quiet but able to help on mpg? quiet is a must.. I don't want it sounding ricey, I'd stay stock before I did that. How about a k&n filter?? or should I go for the intake.. which one? should I use any synthetic fluids? Anything I need to watch out for? I saw on ebay they have a cruise control kit for an 06, is it the same as the 07?? will it fit? is getting premium gasoline effective or no? hmm.. I know there is more, please just share some knowledge or point me in the right direction so I can read what I need. Thankyou everybody, I know this was long but I appreciate you reading it and sharing your knowledge/advice..

I'll try to answer a couple of your questions.
For oil changes, follow the manual maintenance schedule.. for things like that, timing belt, and 'most' other stuff it tells you to do.. So oil would be 5K KM, or 3K miles... Price sounds good.. base model I assume? Not sure on the conversion. assuming you are in the US...
My guess is that the cruise control will fit your car too.. Check with the dealer, I believe they can order in the OEM one for you..
Huge debate on the synthetic fluids thing. I haven't decided if I will switch to synthetic oil or not. Has it's advantages I'm sure, but what a lot of people say, at least locally here, is that if you are changing it as per spec (3K miles) religiously, it won't make any long term difference. But I've never personally used synthetics.. But likely I will try them out with my new car.. Either way, you should for sure stick to regular oil for the first few oil changes.. till the engine is totally broken in..

they actually have an oem cruise control for these?? The salesman said they don't/can't come with cruise(which is why I am looking for an aftermarket one)?? and yes it is a base model LS, only option is automatic tranny.. doesn't even have a CD player I wasn't looking for the automatic tranny but I did want silver and it was the only silver they had so they ended up just giving me the auto tranny for free the intake aveosam makes fits 07's?? That'll be pretty sweet if it does.. he is how I found this site too.. I was checkin his ride out at cardomain, but his link is messed up.. had 2 http's in the link so I had to move the mouse like an additional 3 seconds to fix it.. man's makin me work are the ebay ones basically crap?? I assumed they were. So many CAI's for Spec V's on ebay and every single one sucked.. I stuck with the AEM on that car. how much does the cai help on mpg??

the ebay ones are just elbow pipes with filter....i dont know if my CAI will fit because i was having trouble with it fitting on an 06 with driveby wire...the end on the throttle body is different than mine so it will make test fitting on my car a little different than urs....get a pic of the engine bay so i can see if anything else is diff

My guess is that the cruise control will fit your car too.. Check with the dealer, I believe they can order in the OEM one for you.. You cannot just buy the cruise option from the dealer. I work at a dealer and they don't sell it. That is why I made my own. All the other dealers I called gave me the same phone number in the Seattle metro area that installs an aftermarket unit for around $350. As for the ebay model for the 06, it will fit an 07. They have the same wiring schematic. I got the 07 schematic to wire in the one for my 06. I am still on the hunt for a better way to install the switch.

I'll just go buy the kit.. hell I am going to seattle on the 16th anyway to watch the Seahawks beat up on the Cardinals the 17th.. maybe I should just have it installed then

Body lines are slightly different, but a graft could be done, that would be sweeet to have the new hatch on the street....

Also, if you get it fitted and working right on an 06 I will volunteer to be the first to see if the 06's is the same as the 07's gimme a slight discount for being the 07 guinea pig and I'd be an even more proud volunteer. Lemme know what pics ya need and I should be able to get them to ya same day as long as it doesn't require moving a whole lot of stuff

i dont have the time for the person with the 06 to come to my house to fit it with college starting up again...he lives 45-60 mins away plus all the time to take his off, then test fit and the put his back together again....lots of time and to be honest a full price kit is starting to hardly be worth the profit i make.....an 04 fitted one will fit an 06 with some tweaking( meaning you might need to adjust the mount and/or coupler to get it to fit)......to me the resonator hole looks like its the same distance from the throttle body as 04-06's but i need a shot of the inside of the wheel well on the passanger side to see if there is room for the filter

I also noticed that they are using a metal thermostat housing for the rad hose. The daewoo guys are gonna love this. Those plastic ones are junk, guess I'm gonna have to pick up a meatl one.
