I'm mad that us here in the USA get screwed all the time. We can't get the good stuff. I was happy to have a 1.6L but I was sent a email the other day by my friend in Japan about a car she saw that looks just like mine but not. If anybody knows about it then they know that we should have had the option for it too. I do know the parts are interchangeable including an engine swap but I really just want the car as a whole. Holden Barina SRi Vehicle Summary Body: 3 Door Hatchback Transmission: 5 Speed Manual Engine Size: 1.8L Engine Type: Multi Point F/INJ List Price: $22,490 Engine Specifications Cylinders: 4 Valve Gear: Dohc Engine cc: 1796 Bore/Stroke: 80.5x88.2 Compression Ratio: 10.5 Power kW: 92 Torque Nm: 165 Dimensions Seats: 5 Height (mm): 1440 Wheel Base (mm): 2491 Kerb Weight (kg): 1088 Steering Steering: PaR&P Turning Circle (metres): 9.9 Capacity Fuel Tank Capacity (litres): 44 Wheels Drive: FWD Wheels: 16x6

"List Price: $22,490"
You're kidding about this price right? That's kind of ridiculous!

Close, but no cigar. It's the Monaro, which is named after a mountain range in Western Australia. Just a little bit of useless trivia there

Speaking of Barina, www.autospeed.com did a write up on one recently. They wern't impressed... It was cool to see them test the Aveo (barina) though.

As far as I can tell, the Barina SRi is based on a different car than the Aveo, and was ony built until 2004.

Now all I have to do is figure out how I could have looked at that page and not thought they were the same...
Well since it's still fairly entry level, it's just a matter of time before that engine is available for export someway or another. We just need to find out more information. Anyone for an Australia trip?

Anyone for an Australia trip? why not just use an engine that is already in N.A. like the U20SED from a Forenza? That is a 2.0L motor and you wouldn't have to pay the shipping cost from Australia
