we were just cruising around up here in estes and we were or this road on the edge or town so i flagged him up next to me and told him lets race. so i take off pretty quick, i think i dropped the clutch around 4k, shifted at about 6300 and i was still ahead or him! we only raced to about 60, the road split off up ahead so we couldn't have gone farther. afterwards he said he didnt launch good, that he dropped the clutch at about 2500 or 3000 but i could hear him taking to the redline before every shift, and he didnt pull on my at all. (his 944 is a non turbo version) i had him from the launch and he was pretty much right at my back bumper the whole race. i'm sure if we could have gone longer he would have started to pull on me but considering my only mod on the car right now is the airbox snorkle removed(i'm modifying my cai right now), i think it did great!
i was real careful on the break in, and the aveo feels really strong, stronger then my 05, if i want i can get rubber every time on the 1st to 2nd shift. ;D

what year porsche? i'd believe it COULD happen because really a race is determined within the first 60 feet, then after an 1/8th mile it changes again, so under the right circumstances, which it sounds like you had, it could happen
good kill, you got lucky

I had beat a 928 last year. We ran for about a mile, he pulled every straight but on every bend I was back on his Ass. It just couldnt shake me.

its an 83 944 non turbo, VERY good condition, it was his dads, and his dad was a mercedes tech, all that family drives are mercedes and porsche. his dad was completely anal with that car, the log books are amazing, every single thing is recorded. needless to say it runs and drives perfect, and the crazy thing is that his dad sold it to him for $1200 bucks.
i am pretty sure he would have beat me in a full 1/4th run, i raced his dad about 5 years ago in that same car, but i was in my rabbit, i was even with him to about 80mph then he started pulling and never looked back lol i raced him about two miles and he was a good half mile ahead in the end lol, i was having problems with my fuel dizzy(rabbits are cis injection) but even if it had been running perfect, i still would have lost, if you've owned a rabbit gti you know they are not a top end car, its quick off the line but it has very close gear ratios and isnt a freeway flyer

944s arent worth much. I had one in high school, costed a cool $750 and a few parts (clutch, cai, waterpump).
