Well i got scared the other day lol. Can't blame anyone else then myself, i was testing the car out with the new lowered suspension how it would handle at highspeed, so i was punching it in 4th almost at like 165 - 170 kph (about 105 mph) i went to shift in 5th gear but i did it too fast and it went into 3rd instead When i let of of the clutch i just saw the rpm go way into the redline like 7500 rpm. Though it was just for a second it still was scary, the engine sounds nice at that speed though lol! Anyone else have anything that happened to them like this?

not me and not in an aveo but this friend of my family has his firebird here on jacks because of this same thing...he was at the track and went to put it into the last gear and went down to either 2-3rd and bent a few springs and marked up the piston

3rd going 65 isn't bad... nothing but slightly accelerated wear on the synchro if you didn't match it... mis-shifts are what we are talking about... When the gearing forces the engine to rotate at speeds at which it wasn't meant to. Luckily I've never done it myself. Stupidest things I've done seem to happen on a weekly basis now... On my third steelie on the front passenger side... Keep dropping corners during "spirited" drives... This road turned out to be the find of the century... maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&om=0&ll=38.164121,-79.54771&spn=0.046159,0.078621

Holy God, look at that road!!!! Ex, you have to go out there and take pics/video. I would go through many cars and engines a year if that was near me. We have a road near me called Lime Creek Road (it's pretty well known around the US). I won't take the Aveo on it until I have KYBs and some decent springs at all four corners. About 50% of it is cliff side driving and I just don't trust the stock suspension. Hmmm... stupid things... oh lots of them.... I was driving the Miata (back when I had it) over to pick up my wife at her job one night. The place she worked at had a really curvy, wooded enterance. I came in hot and hit a patch of water. I tried to let the car drift back into position (worked in the 240) but the wheelbase was too short and I didn't give it enough gas or counter steer. I ended up backwards and slid, rear first for about 50 feet. I stopped in a shallow ditch just 2 feet shy of a tree... whew. I forgot to push the clutch in so the engine was dead. I started the car back up and drove out of the ditch... no damage. On the way out of her work, I thought I'd gotten away clean but security stopped me and asked if I was ok. The rent-a-cop had witnessed my antics from somewhere in the woods. I played dumb but he persisted. Finally he let us go. My wife almost made me sell the car. One more... I decided to replace the Tension Control Rods on my 240sx with new ones with polyeurethane bushings installed. So, we get under the car, pull the old TC rods off. Put the new ones in place and bolt them on. I got under there to do the final tightening once the car was back on the ground (have to put it on the ground to preload the parts or it will mess up your alignment). I made the mistake of using an impact gun to do it. I stripped the bolt and nut so bad that the thread came off like ribbon. So we piled into my friend's truck and drove 20 miles to the nearest Nissan dealership... Nissan didn't manufactur or sell the bolt and nut anymore. It was 6:05 pm and all of the junkyards were closed. The next morning I got up bright and early and went to a junkyard. I pulled every TC rod bolt and nut off a 240sx that I could find. That was a needless waste of 24 hours of my life.

Holy God, look at that road!!!! Ex, you have to go out there and take pics/video. Working on my camera mount soon. Basically a piece of junk wood... 2 holes in which the headrest posts will go through and a bolt to screw the camera onto... so you get a nice center view of the action ;D Don't even want to try to get video with a passenger holding my camera... Subachad's videos made me dizzy. Another problem is that the road is so far out in the middle of nowhere I end up with motion sickness by the time I get there ... also only like hitting it at night (I get a little more leeway, because you can see oncoming headlights far before you see the car)... so anything in the area is closed... so I can't like sit down at a restaraunt (I have still yet to see any in the vicinity) to calm my stomache or anything... It's about 1.5hrs from my house... these are backroads to get there too... if only it was just a highway ;D Found a nice gravel road down that way tonight also... really need to get some mudflaps... Here's a pic of some minor detailing I did the other night: did I mention that I need mudflaps?
