I was wondering, is there a difference between the head unit for the four and six speaker stereo system for the Aveo? Or is it just done with the wiring?
This summer I am thinking of replacing the system in the Aveo. I am getting bored with the lack of bass and miss the thump of a sub in the vehicle.
Would it be worth sticking with the six speakers or should I just drop down to four when I get the aftermarket installed?
I guess I and just looking for some ideas on what to do with the sound system for my car. I am not worried about the install, I can do that myself.

you should keep your 6 speakers, the 2 additional speakers are tweeters for the high...the sub is for the low, unless you change for aftermarket speakers wich usualy have tweeters integrated and yes the head unit is the same, the 2 tweeters are tapped on the front speakers wires

I would like to upgrade the speakers as well, but we will see how much money I have to spend on the system. Can anyone tell me how much power the stock speakers can handle? Well handle comforatably. I don't want to blow the speakers but I do want to be able to turn the volume up a bit if I like the song or if the passenger starts talking too much...

I searched in the closet to find them and it says 20W and 40W max so unless it's amplified I doubt that even an aftermarket head unit could blow them but they even if they can handle it doesn't mean they will sound good with that power

I replaced my head unit with a Pionner (forgot model number) 60W per channel unit. Then i simply went to the local Canadian Tire store (lol!) and bought two 100W 4" and two 220W 4x6" speakers. The 4"s easily went into that plastic thing thing that holds the stock speaker and the rear ones i put em into that grey panel thing that rizes when you open the hatch. The sound is awesome and cost 120$ for all 4 speakers (i also have the tweeters since i had the 6 speaker radio but left those alone) Also have an Alpine 12" sub that my brother gave me when he sold his RSX. Anyways im getting new pics and reedoing my car domain soon, you will all see
