OKay so I am getting a Pontiac Wave but it will most likely be equipped with a CD player since one with an MP3 player cannot be located with the options I have selected. I want to know how difficult is it to install an aftermarket deck. i've done it on a 1991 VW Passat with a breeze. But I have seen how many newer cars these days have made it shucks near impossible to install an aftermarket deck; case in point the Cavalier, where you have to remove the dashboard and then you lose all the chimes. I was wondering if this is similar to the Wave family of cars.

easy pop the 2 covers off each side of the radio/heater controls. then remove the 4 bolts, and pull out radio. get a harness adapter. DO NOT. I repeat DO NOT cut the factory harness you will have problems if you do.

Brian is right, just go to an audio store and buy the mounting kit and wiring harness. Pop off the two small panels with a flat head, the 4 bolts, slide out old, and slide in the new. I modifed my mounting kit alittle bit and fliped it over. now my radio is on the lower half with the pocket on top.

Actually rick, your wrong. GM owns Daewoo and our cars are korean, but still a GM. But I didnt get my harness from Crutchfield, I got it from an audio shop in Pittsburgh, and I paid 14.99. your gonna pay 18.98 with S&H from Crutchfield.

Exactly. The Aveo/Swift/Wave has the GM opening for the radio, meaning the huge opening. The cubby hole beneath the head unit is attached to the unit itself. I could always install my Pioneer CD Player, but its not worth doing as its only an AM/FM/Single CD system.
I suppose you could fit the cubby hole to another headunit. I was thinking of getting an equalizer there.
