ok so heres my situation, i have my system but i cant install it. something always comes up. i tried getting an aftermarket cd player today but a simple $100 deck came out to be over $200 wit install and harness and the special module so i wont lose the chimes. i really dislike the new complications that come with these new cars. i remember when it was super simple to install a new deck. but neways i have the mp3 option on my aveo and i bought the line converter so i could finally install my system. what i need to know is how to install it? and if theres anything i should know, like cutting the harness? i read on another post it shouldnt be done. but im gonna have to cut some wires to get the converter in. any help or info will be greatly appreciated?

First off, the stereo has nothing to do with the chimes. There is a seperate module under the dash that you can unplug with no adverse effects to any system that controls the chimes.
Its been said here not to cut the harness. Get a harness from an audio supplier and its as simple as popping off the side pieces, removing the screws, and pulling the radio out. Connect the harness and there you go! There is NO NEED to save the stock head unit in the car whatsoever. Its an Aveo, not an Impala.
