Hi everyone this is my first posting on this site. I'd like to say that all of the info that you've provide is a great help for me in getting to know my Chevy Aveo.
Anyway, I have a Misty Blue Aveo 06. I just had my semi-annual service, $90 bucks. I told them about some of the problems that I've been having with my car, turn signal sticking, low MPG, roughish idling after car is warmed up.
Apparently, I'm an idiot. Dealer knows best. LOL.
I don't turn the full 90 degrees to cancel the signal. I've got 11000 kms on my car and get about 24mpg(pure city). The dealer told me that I should be gettting better mileage at aroung 20k. I just wanted to say 'WHATEVER!!!!' My roughish idling is just that. The engine light hasn't come on so the car is running in the right parameters.
As for the SOFTWARE UPDATE. He said that there was new software for my car. They uploaded it. I don't know if this applies to all you 2004-05 users.

it should be free. I've had my car in to the dealer and they haven't said anything about an update for the ECM...

The dealer didn't say it was for the whole ECM. The invoice says, '11151 SCAN TEST AND CHECKED FOR CODES NO CODES STORED WHEN CHECKED AT THIS TIME CHECK ENGINE IDLE DOES NOT SEEM HIGH NOW CANNOT DUPPICATE. CUSTOMER CONCERN AT THIS TIME CHECK FOR PROGRAMMING UPDATE HAS ONE BUT NOT RELATED TO CONCERN. REPROGRAM PCM SOFTWARE TO LATEST CALIBRATION OLD SOFTWARE ID # KMFT NEW SOFTWARE ID # KMLT ETC ICE BREAKING IMPROVEMENT AND AMP.'
What that means beats me. They also relearned my crankshaft variation. The dealer said that I might get a few more MPG.
Yes, it was free and in Canada.
WHO ELSE IS HAVING THE ROUGH IDLING?
I mentioned it to the dealer and he kind of brushed me off. 'We'll do a full diagnostic check and because the engine light hasn't come on then the car will almost certainly be considered within normal parameters.'
I talked to a mechanic today about the problem and he said something about a throttle vacuum or something like that. But he also said that you've got to go to the dealer and complain and complain about the problem because most of the time the dealers don't want to do anything in regards to the warranty. It's not there problem.

About idling. I just found a thread in Aveo Tech/problems about high idling. The mechanic said the same thing that one of the guys said about a loose
Note: the part I replaced in the throttle body was the idle air controller, the little valve/motor that controlls how much air is let in th engine at idle.
Cornut check it out.
