Because I'm so cheap, I bought an Aveo without power locks... I was surprised to find out that with the front driver's door open, the lock cannot be pushed down. Is this a feature made to avoid locking keys in the car??? I'm not sure if it is a faulty door lock, or the norm. I am most afraid of Illinois winters when the locks freeze, and that having to lock the door using keys... I am going to scratch the paint near the handles. Anyone have an Aveo without power locks???

Is this a feature made to avoid locking keys in the car??? Yep. That's the first thing the Dealer pointed out to me. It's a bit of a pain but....as a guy who once actually did lock his keys in his truck.....while it was running.....while a snow storm was going on.....at the head of a drive-thru lane.....I am happy to put up with this 'feature'.

Yeah man... I have a history of lockin the keys in... The only downside is using the keys during the snowstorms, rainstorms, and all that other unfriendly weather. At least I'll never lock the keys in again.

if the car has a block heater, simply splice another power cord to that and run it in the cabin for a ceramic heater that all plugs in at home and set in on a timer, as for other times invest in a remote starter 100$-200$. Well worth the effort and money if you live in a cold area. I am in Edmonton Alberta and almost all cars use these setups. The lockout feature is great, I hate power options, more things to go wrong

And... don't forget... more options adds more weight... and more draw from the electrical system of the car. The lighter the car the better. I saw a mitsubishi mirage with nitrous smoke the sh** out of a trans am with a 3000rpm stall.
