I bought a 2009 Aveo 5 about 4 months back. I had a 2005 Aveo sedan before that, and put 60,000 absolutely trouble free miles on the little guy. So when Chevy had a great price and finance offer on the 2009, I jumped on it.
I love the little guy, but I think quality slipped a little since 2005. The dash fit on my 2005 was impeccable, but my new one has a few (barely) misaligned parts. There was a screw missing out of the steering column shell when I got it, and the edge of the shifter boot wasn't quite tucked under correctly. There were a couple of screws missing on the drivers' side front fender lining as well.
All of these items (except the dash fit) were taken care of on the first scheduled maintenance. And I know they're kind of picky details. But my 2005 was as perfect as you could ask for, so I guess I'm spoiled.
On the plus side, traction and handling are noticeably better on the 2008, and there's more power for passing. The gas mileage is great (averaging about 38.5), and it's a great looking little guy. Despite the lumps, I love it!
