Have you thought about FM transmitters? Because I don't think that the stock AM/FM is really capable of "thinking" that it's playing a CD... And about FM transmitters, I know that sound quality is not as good as if you plug in the AUX, but it's not like the sound quality of the original speakers is that great. (actually I think it's the head unit too rather than just speakers). Honestly, I would just suggest saving up a little bit of money and getting a double-DIN head unit and some upgraded speakers... I went with this for the head unit:

When you add it to cart, it also gives you an option to add the wiring harness and mounting bracket specific to your car (and yes, the do have them for Aveo, I just installed mine from them).
I got this for the front speakers:

(could have went with 5" or 5.25" in the original mounting spot I think, but I went with the stock speaker size)
And I got this for the rear...

And the last, but not the least... I have this guy....

powered by this guy....

... The last two I had to get off the craigslist since they're discontinued (and that saved me quite a bit too since I was already spending quite a bit on the rest of the stuff)...
But anyways, it does sound awesome, and I would highly recommend all of the things that I've just listed up here... And it sounds A LOT nicer than stock stuff...
