Today I replaced all 4 tires and had an alignment done on my 2007 Aveo. On the way home from work my steering wheel started shaking around 40 MPH. It had never done this before, are my tires just out of balance?

Take it back to the place that mounted/balanced them, they obviously didnt do it correctly. If they have a "Road Force" machine, you should have them balance them on that. Its pretty much a machine that simulates it running on pavement rather than just a typical spinning balance. ( www.gsp9700.com/pub/features/how.cfm ) Also ask for your specs from your alignment, they should have some sort of print-out of your results. Then you have a base to compare numbers to. I had 3 different places try to mount/balance my aftermarket wheels and tires, and the only place that got it dead-on, was the place with the road force balancing.
