I will continue to monitor and watch both sites.
I support ALL Aveo support, and will keep doing my part.

I'd like to choose to move to a new site..... not be shut out because some individuals want to force me to move to a brand new site. How in the hell are they going to transfer info from this site? ?? So far all I've seen are "cut and paste" posts onto the new site. In other words.... it's up to them as to what info gets moved to the new site. If they get lazy.... they probably won't go back far enough to find some of the good original posts..... do you think they are going to move 1000+ posts to the new site??? I doubt it I've invested my time in this site and I'm pissed off that these guys shut it down like this. As far as I'm concerned they have no right to shut it down..... as I've seen nothing from TheFlyingJ to make me think they got his permission. Perhaps it's his fault for giving them Administration powers instead of Moderator privilages.

If I had been given the choice to post on this site or the new one..... ya.... I probably would have moved over without much of a fuss..... I probably would have helped re-post some of my technical and information posts on the Daewoo drive train.
Yes..... I did say Daewoo..... your Aveos are nothing more than a re-badged Kalos based upon extreemly robust Opel drivetrain.

I post on seven different forums.... why does there have to be just one aveo forum?? I've been jumping on here more often because I felt that everyone was getting frustrated with their vehicles..... I wanted to remind everyone that this drivetrain has been sold in several million Opel/Vauxhall/Holden/Daewoo/Chevrolet/Pontiac vehicles over the last 20 years. The Opel 1.6L is the overseas equivilent of the Chevy 350 ..... it's been around for ever..... slight upgrades along the way but it's still a robust reliable engine that has significant tuning potential. I didn't have to post on here..... I feel ripped off that I spent all this time trying to cheer you guys up and give new hope only to have the admin jump ship and shut down the forum. Has anyone put any thought into what proboard is going to say about this?If nobody is posting on here then they aren't getting their money for advertizing. If there is no income due to inactivity I'm sure they reserve the right to delete this entire forum. Just imagine your a staff member of Proboards..... you jump onto the site to find out why posts have dropped to zero for the last three months.... then you find the entire board is locked and there are messages saying the forum has moved because proboards have strict limitations. Obviously..... this will not make Proboards happy. Well if it were me.... I'd notify the original proboard administrator ( TheFlyingJ ) that his account will be deleted due to inactivity.... then... after a few days with no response....poof.... the forum is gone forever.... every last word will vanish into thin air. So by locking this forum...... they have doomed my original writing to be deleted. It's just that simple..... deletion of this board means that every second I've spend here has been a waste of my time ..... I will not support the new Aveoclub.net for this reason..

Perhaps those who did this did not consider how this will affect the site....
But the only way to save this info from being deleted is to unlock this forum and allow new moderators/administrators to run it in parallel with aveoclub.net
The big question is how long Proboard will let this site live.... who knows.... a staff member could be looking at this right now..... we might have weeks, days or hours before the site is taken offline or deleted.
Perhaps my posting here is the only reason it's still up...... who knows..... they might have allready tried to contact TheFlyingJ to let him know that his site is in violation of several Proboard rules.
If I were Proboards.... I would have built in self monitoring software which pulls off discussion about Proboards (such as the one saying we are moving because Proboards is too restrictive)
I would also build in some sort of notification system to let Proboards know if someone has hacked into the site and locked up all the posts..... many times hackers will get in and change the administrators password and screw around deleting entire secitons (such as the classified section) and locking up posts.... and so on.
I don't know what Proboards has setup for monitoring......but it's a free hosted forum so they have the ultimate control over the fate of the site.

Yeah, I think the "powers" behind this coup....er, transfer to another site...should have just left and started a new site, and turned this site over to a new set of moderators. That would have seemed a more mature and responsible action. Instead, they hijacked it.
What particularly gripes me is that the "powers" behind this are people who have basically given up on the Aveo. One noted in their excuse that The AmazingJ didn't even own an Aveo. So what? These guys would rather they DIDN'T OWN an Aveo. And have alluded to same more than once. They are not Aveo enthusiasts anymore. But they do seem to like being large and in charge.

yeah i think they should keep both sites open, and yeah if you dont want to be driving and aveo, MAYBE you shouldnt be in control of a aveo website... but what can we do? nothing. oh well it was a nice board.

I've been "having words" with a few guys.... perhaps things will work out in the end and this site will be saved from deletion. ( at least until such time as all the worth while information is moved over )

I'm trying to dig in and find out more info on what has to be done to keep this site up and running.
As I said before.... Proboards do not need TheFlyingJ's permission to delete this site.
Here is a quote from Proboards Terms of service.....
8. TERMINATION OF SERVICE
This service may be terminated at any time by the Provider or User. The Provider may at its sole discretion remove any message board for any reason.
In other words.... if they don't like what they see... they can delete the site immediatly without warning.
Here is another quote from Proboards privacy policy.....
Message Board Monitoring ProBoards reserves the right to monitor any and all message boards located on our server. Our staff has access to login to every password protected board to view the contents of those boards, as well as the ability to remove posts and/or boards that are found in violation of our terms of service.

For me at least I like the board's format and speed...and all the information available on it is priceless for those like me that really like our Aveos...not for those that keep gripping and yelling "I should have bought an Honduh!!!"
I have two Aveos and would suggest the site change issue should have been taken more seriously...information that for some is worthless is valuable for others. And for me our cars have potential...but everything just want to go to Pep Boys to buy bolt-ons and get their ricers done.
Summary: No information here in the forum is worthless!!!
