Ok, I modded my background for my instrument cluster and when I put them back together I think I pushed too hard on the needles and messed the motors up. Anyway, onto the question, does anyone know if when I get a new cluster will my computer retain the mileage or does the cluster retain it? Will I need to find on ewith almost the identical mileage?

I think these days the car keeps the mileage. Makes sense, and would make it the hardest to defeat. Might be something you would have to ask at the dealer, as though you were getting one from them.. I find they can give a lot of good information if they think you might buy some crazy expensive little piece from them

I have experience on this. the mileage is kept in the cluster. I did the same thing to cluster, for some reason the motor get screwed up easily. I bought another cluster on ebay. Found out it was for a auto, put it in and it read wrong because they use a different signal than the manual. so thank god I have some experiaence in electronics, so I pulled out the solder gun for electronice, not the big heavy ones you will cook the board plus the connections are small. I just unsoldered the speedo from the new cluster and put it on my old one. that was last year still no problems.
