I saw an Aveo engine x16xe on ebay for $750. Man if i had the money for it, it would be something nice to tamper with, also saw some manual and auto trannies with extremely low mileage on em.

is it just me or are these people rediculous with the prices.....almost a grand for an aveo engine (no ac/alt, and the other stuff people leave off) with 22,000....god darn if someone buys something like that I will rip my engine out of my car and sell it for a bigger one

Crazy... I can get a REAL Ecotech Engine (2.2l) off a Cavalier with a Getrag tranny for about $500 from a local reseller.

yea if you really want to buy an engine to mess around with and build, I would just upgrade to a bigger one like the u20sed

Simple economics... supply and demand.

;D actually supply and demand are two differents laws:
Law of supply: As price rises, the quantity supplied rises; as the price falls, the quantity supplied falls.
Law of demand: as prices fall, the quantity demanded rises, and as price rises, the quantity demanded falls.
they arent linked like you were taught in grammer and middleschool

The aveo does not use the X16XE, that is a opel engine from europe, the Aveo uses a L91

Law of demand: as prices fall, the quantity demanded rises, and as price rises, the quantity demanded falls. they arent linked like you were taught in grammer and middleschool they both have a dictation on price. Especially when it comes to a product that isn't solely produced to be sold on it's own. High supply, low demand usually means low prices. Low supply, high demand usually means prices rise. High supply, high demand steady prices. Low supply, low demand, Sellers have high flexibility on pricing. Buyers willingness to pay depends on personal demand, rather than the market as a whole (this is where I would consider an x16xe engine to fall).

well if the transmission is the same as our 1.6L, you can swap in the 1.6L but i dont know if that qualifys for more powerful with 105 hp...theres a 2.0L u20sed that will work with the tranny too
