This is after 12,000 km of use, I'd hate to see them after 160,000kms.

I was worried about this and checked out the NGK web site...although really ugly, the spark look is "normal" according to them . Anyway, seems like they are fouled up or burned to me. Will see if the same happens to new Bosch Platinum +4's I installed.

Just get irridiums. The BP +4s are hit and miss with quality, and won't last as long. Irridiums you can toss in and just forget about them for nearly the life of the engine.

I took out those lovely plugs in the picture and put in Iridiums. Read here that the car already had NGK plugs and that the Iridiums were good so went with those. So far, so good. I don't know about the life of the engine comment, probably valid. I love putting in new plugs I always see a difference in the way the car performs, just the same as putting in new oil. I know that these won't be the last plugs I put in my car.

If the car is just an average daily driver, irridiums really can and do last nearly forever.
If the car is being used for racing, you should be cutting your electrodes anyways. They'll last about 10 hours.

Originally I bought the Bosch 4+ cuz they sounded OK.
Went to Canadian tire here and read the back of the Iridium plugs and it said they were already gaped at .44(i think) and had a warning saying Do Not Gap you may damage the spark wire/electrode(crap I forgot what it called it, but you get the idea).

the stock ngk plugs are junk! changed them after 8000 km. changed to the iridium plugs and changed the original wires. car gained 16hp on the dyno!

That's sounding like BS. Hardly any cars, even V8s gain that much from that change. Do you realize that's approx. 16% gain over stock horsepower?
