I am looking at getting a cat-back exhaust for the wave. I was hoping for a borla, but was at a muffler place and they had magnaflo, but the guy said they dont have anything for the wave... does anyone in the GTA know where someoen who is competent in this subject area is, or know of a muffler that is able to be used on this car?

If you want a catback exhaust, its gotta be custom made. Have a shop bend you a pipe in stainless 2.25". Since its custom work though, might be more expensive then prebuilt ones. Shop around for prices.

if i just put on a muffler, withthe stock pipe, will that not affect anything? even though if it is still a cat back, the air flow is still limited because its the original pipe to the cat, then a fatter pipe to the muffler... so really i guess a cat back isnt neccesary? or does anything help?

Just a muffler will give you a little more power and a little more mpg.

what about a pipe as well? or is that too much airflow? as in wouldnt the back pressure be off?

muffler is better then nothing, but catback is good.

Backpressure does force the gasses to stay in the combustion chamber longer which makes for a cleaner burn THATS IT! To get more power, you need exhuast velocity and as little backpressure as possible. A 3" pipe will give you very little velocity but no backpressure, therefore no gain in power. A properly sized exhaust pipe will give you less than 2psi backpressure and the velocity will be really high. A high velocity will litterally suck the exhaust gasses out and that's one way of getting you close to that magical 100hp/liter goal.

Sport Compact Car gained 13hp and 16tq with a 3" exhaust they put on a civic and was like "backpressure smackpressure". But who knows what kind of better gains they would have got with a smaller size to harness the scavanger effect

ok, so what muffler would be recommended? I want a low deep tone, no fart can, no tin sound... i want a lower "growl" even though a 4 banger is harder to get that

I used a magnaflow, cant remember what series, but i had to put on a resonator because it was WAY to loud

I'm been checking out X-Force Twin loop system here in Australia. Everyone I've spoken to claims that it gives a nice deep tone but not too loud to need ear muffs while on the highway

if you loose backpressure the rings around the pistons will calapse and the motor will start knocking.

What information do you have to back that up? so many race cars (i know we dont have race cars but) run straight headers.. Ive run many vehicles with almost no back pressure when it was applicable to the situation, never collasped any piston rings
