Just wondering how many here are running on full synthetic oil. I have a new '07 and was debating on whether or not to go that route the first oil change.
If you are, what are you using? I've always been a Valvoline person, so that is the way I am leaning.
Thanks for any input.

I'm running on Mobil One 15K and changing every 9000 miles. I'd recommend that you wait at least 5000 miles before you change to a full synthetic on the Aveo. You'll want to make sure the engine is fully broken in first.
Mine now has 61K+ on her and just seems to keep getting more efficient. Right now she's doing a solid 34mph WITH A/C on all the time and an auto tranny. I just couldn't be happier, considering the price of the car. ;D
(btw: mine is a 04 sedan)

I have used synthetic for the last two oil changes for my 2005 Aveo 5. Seems to be fine. I am getting an overall 33.8 mpg for the past 45,000 miles (getting 37.6 for the last two months). The synthetic did not appear as dirty as normal when I did the last oil change.
I've had no problems with this car (except for the clock resetting on hot days), it runs so smooth and gives the impression it will last a long time. And yes, it was not expensive. I have A/C and use it when necessary. That does affect my mpg slightly - but it's worth the comfort.

I have had excellent results on all three of my Aveo's using regular Castrol 5W30. It's a bit more expensive than most conventional oils but I'm averaging about 34 in the city and easily 38-40 on the highway (I keep it under 80 MPH, usually set the cruise at 72 - 75 on long hauls) I inherited a 2004 Sedan ( a green one...) from my dad when he was not able to drive anymore. I took possession in Jan 08' and the car had just 6,800 miles on it. He changed it every 3 months wether or not he had 100 miles on or 3K, I have two '07's; a top of the line LS fully loaded with 22 K and I just bought an Aveo 5, plain jane (just an auto trans) about the time I got the '04. I have experimented over the years with other convetional oils and Mobile 5000 seems good and obviously Mobile 1 Synthetic. The synthetic DID find a leak in my truck - I fattened the gaskets up with 12 K miles of conventional then made the switch, only to end up with a leak. BTW, change RELIGIOUSLY at 3 K.....

I just swithched to Mobil One in my 04 Aveo. I have used Mobil One in all of my vehicles and have experienced better mileage and the benefit of longer intervals between oil changes. I have compared all the synthetics from Amsoil to Royal purple and the domestics such as castrol and valvoline. Mobil one seems to be the best in the research I've done but I am sure that all are exceptional, it is basically econimics.

Mobil now puts out a 0W30. I'm running it. It seems to start easier, and it definitely gets better MPGs.
