I'm about to hit 3k miles. I'm going to get an oil change sometime this coming week. No issues so far *knocks on wood*. I've already taken the car to Houston and back 3 times (190 miles one way). I'm using a shorter route to work now so that should keep me from accumulating miles so quickly now.
Trying to decide if I'm just going to do the oil change myself or if I'll take it to the dealership. They are supposed to change my oil throughout the life of the car as part of their sales agreement. But they have something written that says they won't do it until 5k miles. I'm thinking about calling them up and seeing if they will go ahead and change it now. Otherwise I'll crawl under there and do it myself.

I called them today and they say they won't change the oil until 5k. The department manager said that I will have to get the tires rotated and the chassis lubed and checked with the oil change. It will run about $20. Yay.
But he didn't say anything about me not changing the oil now. Screw em'. I'm going to change it this week.

I now have 52,000 trouble free miles on my 2005 hatchback, 5 spd. I whacked a curb pretty bad, climbed over it, and knocked the front out of alignment, and waited 20,000 for the front tires to wear out (at 45,000) then replaced them and got the alignment (that was dumb). Rear tires are original, and look almost as good as the new ones. I have my tires pumped up to 50 PSI for the last 6 months, to increase gas mileage. I am running synthetic engine oil (which I change myself). I'm getting 43-44 MPG on the highway, and 38.5 MPG combined. Fill-up yesterday was 41.3 MPG. Best tankfull was 454.3 miles at 10.8 gallons. I shut the engine down at long traffic lights, coast down hills, and try to time traffic lights so I don't have to stop. Still on original front brake pads. Replaced air filter twice so far. Should rprobably eplace the fuel filter.
