hey i have had a similar problem with my Aveo 04....it seems to putter when i come to a stop and even stalls out sometimes...i took it in for service and they told me that my engine was very dirty....and also had somekind of black dust all around the engine they cleaned it and put it on the computer and said that it was fixed...so far it seems to be okay and stutters sometimes but i am hoping that it doesn't happen again

Well chevy corporate called today, they are going to buy back my car. Bout shucks time! We'll I am not getting another chevy but it was fun to post here and chat with all of you. I am getting an acura tl from a friend at work (buying it from her of course). Anyways, hope you all don't have as much trouble with your aveo's as I did. If you do I heard from the tech at chevy that there is a new service bulletin out which decribes my problem exectly and they can get the parts to fix yours.
Anyways, ttyl.

Ya that does suck! i would say get the new Saturn Ion Redline! ;D but thats my own oppinion. i have had to have the Airbag Module replaced on my car as well as the Intake mani because it Cracked! I'd like to point out that saturn is made by GM, so you'd be dealing with the same people... But this is the first time I've heard such serious problems with an aveo. I have 12,300mi on mine and the only real problem I have is with the suspension, which is simply accelerated wear, due to agressive driving. As stupid as it sounds, I would honestly recommend purchasing another (perhaps from a different dealership, to avoid the hassles you had with this one). Mostly because they're just so cheap.

my 04 aveo 5 had the same problem and they replaced the clock and crank sensor. it fixed the problem. the clock would go out just before the car would start acting up.

I work at a GM dealer and we had an Aveo come in for service. Problem was that the CEL kept coming on and at one time the plugs fouled out. Came in a second time and it turned out that the valves where put in at the wrong angle which cause them not to seal properly which then would cause misfiring, which in turn would f u c k your engine up. Ended up tearing er apart and replacing all the valves. Info: was a 04' with approx. 4k on it. Makes me kinda worried Havent seen or heard of this happening to others, lets just hope that was a fluke!
