ud need custom parts for the 5 speed that they dont make yet
"the automatic version of our trans can hold only 200Hp but the standard 5 speed trans with a good ACT clutch and heavy duty CV shafts, ones that will hold 400+ hp are a must. we are using a titanium aloy mixture to make the CV shafts for the Aveo project. " (by 2004aveo)
he never said exactly how much a stock 5spd can hold but i was assuming that it can only hold around the same but with those custom parts it can go to 400+hp

Is that hersay or has somebody actually done it?
Neon's New Venture five speeds are rated at 130ft of torque, alot of Neons exceed that with ease. Including a few up and over 500-600hp.

So..... the Aveo has the D16 transmission...... it should be fine until 200hp but the smarter option is to replace it with a D20 from a Suzuki Forenza/Reno.
The D16 and D20 are nearly identical in every way.... except the D20 has stronger internals.
Quaife makes a torque biasing differencial (LSD) that will work in both the D16 and D20.
If someone felt like spending a pile of money you can allways fit the 6spd F28 gearbox from the Opel Calibra.
The F28 is a beast..... good for high horsepower.... most of the Opel tuners use a FWD version of this tranny on their conversions due to it's strength.
Oh.... by the way.... the F28 is an AWD gear box.... but in stock form it doesn't hold very much power.... so it's best to get an F28 that has been converted to FWD.
If anyone wants one.... let me know.... I'm trying to arrange to have a shipping container brought from the UK to Canada ( couple of right hand drive Calibra 4X4 Turbo, some 2.0L 16V turbos, various gearboxes, various tuner parts )
If it happens.... it will be in 6 months to a year from now as it's going to take a while to find all the parts I want.
